McClory, Managing Director, Hunter Wise Financial Group, LLC has received a Knighthood in the 2011 Honors list of individuals conferred by His Royal Highness Prince Victor Emmanuel of Savoy, Grand Master of the historic Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy. Prince Victor Emmanuel of Savoy is the son of the late King Umberto II of Italy. The Savoy Orders are ancient orders of knighthood which date back to the Crusades, have traditionally been devoted to charitable works, and recognize individuals for their contributions in public service, medicine, the arts, music, government, business and philanthropy. </p>

<p>The morning of Saturday, December 10, 2011, the representative of His Royal Highness presided over the installation and promotion ceremony of knights and dames in the Order of Merit of Savoy (OMS) and the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus (OSSML) at the main altar of the Cathedral of Saint Patrick in New York City. He conferred honors on 17 knights and dames, including McClory&#8217;s Knighthood in the OSSML, during the Investiture Mass in the famed Cathedral, in a memorable ceremony continuing a thousand year tradition of humanitarian service and philanthropy to aid the poor and sick (http://www.savoia.org). </p>

<p>McClory is an international investment banker whose corporate finance transactions have spanned the US, Europe, Asia and Africa. He serves as Managing Director of the Hunter Wise Financial Group, LLC in Southern California where he leads the Equity Capital Markets Group (http://www.hunterwise.com), the recent winner of &#8220;Deal of the Year&#8221; in three categories at the 10th Annual M&amp;A Advisor Awards. <p>The elegant Metropolitan Club in New York City provided the sumptuous surroundings for the 14th Ballo di Savoia (Savoy Ball), the annual white-tie charity gala ball, on Saturday evening December 10, 2011. The Ballo benefited the American Foundation of Savoy Orders&#8217; charitable and philanthropic initiatives.</p>

<p>The Ballo recreated the traditions and pageantry reminiscent of 19th century European court balls. Following a glittering reception in the main ballroom, dignitaries and guests, with gentlemen resplendent in tail coats and wearing colorful chivalric and military decorations and ladies in flowing ball gowns, descended the long marble staircases to strains of historic Savoy royal anthems and marches popular when Italy was a monarchy under the House of Savoy. </p>

<p>Among the numerous guests were: His Excellency Archbishop Francis Chullikatt, Apostolic Nuncio and Permanent Representative of the Holy See to the United Nations; Mark Pigott, Chairman and CEO of PACCAR; Robert Greifeld, CEO of the NASDAQ-OMX Stock Market, Inc.; and former Congressman Frank Guarini. </p>

<p>The gala also recognized Cindy and Mark Pigott, who established the Savoy Orders Pigott Scholarship Endowment in 2010 for students pursuing careers in the humanities and international studies.</p>

<p>The following day, prior to the Sunday Solemn Mass at the Cathedral of Saint Patrick, in a private ceremony, the Prince&#8217;s representative presented, on behalf of the Grand Master, Prince Victor Emmanuel of Savoy, the highest grade of the Savoy Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus, that of Knight Grand Cross, to His Excellency Most Reverend Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York. Following the presentation ceremony, the Knights and Dames of the Savoy Orders processed with the Archbishop in the Cathedral of Saint Patrick and he welcomed the members of the Savoy Orders from the altar during the cathedral ceremonies.</p>

<p>The American Delegation through its charitable arm, the American Foundation of Savoy Orders, contributes to humanitarian, hospitaller and charitable projects and initiatives across North America and abroad, particularly in healthcare and hospice care, disaster relief, education programs and children&#8217;s causes. <p> In a recent post on his Internet marketing website InternetMarketingSpeed.com, Internet marketing and business authority James Schramko discusses the growing dominance of electronic readers in the reading and publishing industry. The article, titled “Ebook, Amazon Kindle &amp; E-reader Market Growing Dramatically”, cites statistics pertinent to the Amazon.com sales of ebooks and traditional books, and offers comparative illustrations depicting the growing percentage of the ebook readership as well as other points raised in the piece.</p>

<p>Schramko postulates, “It’s a huge business nowadays. Take Amazon.com  and the Kindle e-reader as an example. Their brilliant decision to make the Kindle more affordable in mid-2010 resulted in a surge in ebook sales over 2010 up to now.” He adds that the Hachette Book Group has reported a more than hundred percent increase in ebook and audiobook sales, constituting 22% of its overall revenue last year. Other bookstores have made similar claims, simultaneously indicating a drop in sales of traditional books, both hardcover and paperback. This causes worry and resentment in the print publishing sector, but Schramko rationalizes with this prediction, “There is no stopping this advance in technology – we must adapt if we are to run profitable businesses in the years to come.”</p>

<p>The marketing expert states that he has a library and a large collection of books at home, but that upon his recent switch to Kindle, he immediately cottoned to the device. “I am sold. It is very practical, especially during travel,” he asserts and continues, posing further advantages in e-reader use, “The great thing about eBooks is that they are supported by most smartphones and tablet computers like the iPad. For me, the Kindle format does the job because delivery is faster and works across multiple devices.”</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>He admits that there are distinct disadvantages as well, offering this one in particular, “You cannot lend your books to a friend without handing over your e-reader.”</p>

<p>Schramko, who has been online since 2005 and now generates more than a million dollars yearly with a combination of websites, products and services, goes on to express his own plans to capitalize on the technology. “I am looking to publish some of my own work on the Kindle in the coming months,” he shares, adding this explanation as to why such a move is more cost-efficient from a business perspective: “Your products are accessible to anyone around the world equipped with an e-reader or any other supported devices. Delivery is instantaneous. I also expect kids and schools will really drive this into the education system.”</p>

<p>The article reinforces the continuing rise in popularity of ebooks and e-readers, and the impact e-readers create on reader usage behaviour.</p>

<p>DaimlerChrysler features the trademark Choose Your Own Adventure in their recently launched ad campaign for the new Jeep Patriot.  Chooseco also seeks to injunct DaimlerChrysler and its advertising partners from continued use of their mark in the campaign. </p>

<p>On March 13, Jeep and DaimlerChrysler launched an advertising campaign for the new Jeep Patriot using &#8220;Choose Your Adventure&#8221; throughout print, online and television ads.  The campaign features an interactive website and movie which is recognizably similar to the model used for the Choose Your Own Adventure book series. Jeep&#8217;s press release describes the &#8220;Choose Your Adventure&#8221; campaign as  &#8220;interactive&#8221; and its goal as one for &#8220;consumers to directly impact the evolution of the plot through their…choices.&#8221;  The Patriot is Jeep&#8217;s most affordable model and the campaign press release lists the target demographic as &#8220;young, active men and women.&#8221;  </p>

<p>&#8220;The misappropriation of the Choose Your Own Adventure mark by Jeep is particularly harmful as Choose Your Own Adventure books have also promoted interactive adventure and active lifestyles for boys and girls for over 20 years,&#8221; stated Chooseco publisher Shannon Gilligan. &#8220;The series maintains a large fan base of original readers who are now in the exact demographic Jeep targets. An internal market study done by one of our licensees indicated a 75% recognition rate of the Choose Your Own Adventure brand among 25-35 year olds.  Choose Your Own Adventure has enormously positive associations for these young consumers. This Jeep ad campaign is a gross abuse of our brand.&#8221;</p>

<p>Requests of Daimler Chrysler, BBDO, Organic Interactive and Marvel to cease and desist their infringement of Chooseco&#8217;s trademark have been denied.  &#8220;We regret that we were forced to file suit to stop their behavior but we are committed to staunchly protecting the trademark from misappropriation,&#8221; Montgomery noted.  &#8220;One would think that in the business most associated with protecting and building creative brands, BBDO and Organic would have run a simple check of trademarks during the creative development process.&#8221;</p>
